LG To Pull Away From Windows Phone?s Loving Embrace, Refocus On Android

LG-logoSure, Windows Phone is still but a baby alongside Android and iOS, but the platform shows promise. Woz likes it. And the fact that it's backed by hardware partners like Samsung and Nokia says good things, as well. But it would seem that LG, coming off of a few quarters in the red, has decided to back away from the platform. LG reportedly told the Korea Herald that the company would be focusing on Android handsets going forward, since "the total unit of Windows Phone sold in the global market is not a meaningful figure."

Rick Santorum Denies Taking Photo of Lindsay Lohan

Does Rick Santorum have a crush on Lindsay Lohan?

The former presidential candidate reportedly asked the actress to pose for a photo at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, then awkwardly denied it.

Lohan was sitting with Greta Van Susteren, whose invitation to the star drew fire from Meghan McCain, at the annual event when Santorum approached.

He reportedly asked Lindsay to take a picture of him with Van Susteren, then snapped a photo of Lohan. Not along with him, just a photo of Lohan. Alone.

Random? Sure. But probably harmless. The funny part is that when asked about this by a reporter shortly after, he dodged the question unnecessarily.

"I took a picture of a lot of people tonight," the visibly uncomfortable politician said, as though he could not remember what happened minutes earlier.

It's really okay Rick. You're allowed to be a little enamored with this sultry, captivating, slow-moving train wreck of an individual. We clearly are.

Santorum dropped out of the Republican presidential race this month, having given Mitt Romney an impressively strong run considering that he's Rick Santorum.

Azealia Banks Blasts T.I. On Twitter After Radio Show Comments

Young MC calls Tip a 'snitch' after he talked to Chicago morning show about her beef with Iggy Azalea.

T.I. has been involved in his fair share of rap beef. From Lil' Flip to Ludacris to Shawty Lo, Tip has held his own against some pretty serious dudes, but when it comes to the attacks from rookie female MC Azealia Banks, the Trouble Man wants no part of it.

Banks took exception when T.I.'s new artist Iggy Azalea landed the 2012 XXL Freshman cover earlier this year. The Harlem rapper had no problem lashing out at Iggy via Twitter, and when Tip defended his new protégé on DJ Drama's radio show in March, Banks fired shots at the King too.

"[Banks] wasn't the only one who felt funny about it. It was a trending topic people felt so funny about it," Iggy told MTV News earlier this month about her inclusion on the Freshman list.

Iggy wasn't chosen to be on XXL's coveted cover by the staff outright, instead she won a people's choice vote held on the magazine's website. The Australian-born rapper beat out 49 other rookie MCs to earn her spot along other notables like French Montana, MGK and Future. "Out of all those people, I had the most fans, it's not my fault. You should've voted for who you wanted because everybody else did and not to be rude, it was me."

T.I., however, hasn't been so diplomatic in his response. "The fact that she's speaking up on me and mine, I didn't even see it," he said about Banks when he appeared on the "Tony Sculfield and the Morning Riot" radio show in Chicago on Monday morning (April 23). "That's a bitch sh--, I'ma man. You ain't got no business addressing me. Get your man to address me, if you got a man, get him to address me and he and I can speak on it."

It doesn't seem like Banks, whose video for her single "212" is fast approaching 12 million views on YouTube, has taken heed. "@tip T.i .... Please shut the f--- up about this. Like seriously quit it," she tweeted hours after the Grand Hustle CEO's interview aired.

Banks continued with a full-on Twitter rant. "@tip funny how you have plenty of time to address me but have nothing to say to the dudes who been calling u at as a snitch forever," she wrote. "@tip it's dead... The streets already know what kind of dude you are. Stop making yourself look softer by dragging this out."

She then proceeded to delete all of T.I.'s songs from her iTunes. "LMFAOO every time I delete a t.i. song from my iPad I imagine him dying in some bloody horror film like being eaten by a zombie," she wrote.

Research: Only 6% of UK Consumers Care About TV Apps; 12% Want Mobile TV; 19% Want 3D

tvAttention TV world: consumers, it appears, are not as tech-friendly as you might think. According to a new survey out in the UK, the vast majority of the public is not interested in fancy new 3D or mobile TV services, and even less of them care about TV apps. What they would like are better players to watch on-demand content on their main TVs and better TV guides for discovering what is on where. These conclusions come from Freeview, the UK's subscription-free digital TV service, which canvassed opinion from some 2,000 UK consumers. Only 12 percent of consumers said they consider mobile TV an appealing service, and only 19 percent thought the same of 3D TV. And TV apps -- something that has become standard among producers and broadcasters -- fared worst of all, with only six percent saying these apps were appealing, and only eight percent thinking they were in any way "useful."

HTC One S shows up on T-Mobile's site, reveals its $599 price (update: $200 on-contract at Best Buy)

HTC One S shows up on T-Mobile's site, reveals its $599 price

We know T-Mo's got a special HTC One S event in the works for later today, but it seems like someone's a tad bit trigger happy and decided to out the handset ahead of time. Currently posing freely on the carrier's site, this "Gradient Blue" flavor of the One S is showing a hefty $599 retail price, though surely will be lower with a subsidized deal in place. Aside from revealing how much damage it'll do if you take the no-contract route, T-Mobile's page is also listing the full set of features and specs packed within the One Series member. All the details should be officially unveiled soon, but until then you can head over to the source below, where you can add your name to the "Notify me" list if you plan on snatching one of these Sense 4-packing beasts.

Update: Well, that didn't take long. The phone has now also turned up on Best Buy's website, where it's listed with a slightly lower $550 off-contract price or the usual $200 on a two-year term. Orders are expected to ship after April 25th.

[Thanks, Will]

Acupuncture and Massage | Health and Fitness

If there is one type of alternative medicine that people still use these days, it has to be acupuncture. Apart from acupuncture, massage is another ancient technique that is still famous these days. These two techniques may be able to effectively provide results to you.

Acupuncture has been present for a very long time. It is believed to have started a couple thousand of years ago in China. This technique basically revolves around the belief that the human body is made up of meridians. And in order to attain the best state of health, these meridians should be able to let energy flow as freely as possible. If there are problems with the flow, this will be where acupuncture will come in. It can be used to achieve correct flow of energy by triggering the correct acupuncture points.

Massage, on the other hand, is a technique that mainly uses touch to help the body attain a better state. There are different techniques that will make use of different intensities and strokes in order to help relieve tension and help relax the muscles of the body.

These two methods require that the therapist have an extensive knowledge of the techniques in order to provide the best results. Acupuncture will require the therapist to learn where the acupuncture points are. Aside from this, it will also be a requirement for one to determine which points need to be addressed in order to solve an existing problem. For massage, the therapist needs to know the different techniques. These techniques will consist of the different massage strokes.

For both these methods, setting the right environment is vital. For the person receiving the therapy to be most relaxed, the atmosphere should be quiet and soothing. The lights may be dimmed a little in order to provide privacy and a sense of calm. For those performing acupuncture, there should be enough light to allow the therapist to clearly see where the acupuncture needles will be placed.

Acupuncture and massage are believed to be effective in reducing stress levels of an individual. They are also believed to help people endure pain. They can either reduce the sensation of pain or they may help eradicate it completely. Massage helps relieve the muscles of tension. Once this is used, the muscles of the body can have reduced tightness. Acupuncture produces its effects since it is believed to be able to restore proper flow of body energy. It may help the healing process.

You may try out these two different techniques together. However, some people might opt to stick to the one method that they believe is the most effective. The convenience and degree of relaxation that they get may also play a big part in their decision of which one to choose.

For either of these two methods, there might be a need for you to consult your physician. If you have an existing medical condition, you need to get clearance in order to determine if you are well enough to safely undergo such methods.

Londoners mourn as teletext goes dark, a victim of the DTV transition

Londoners mourn as Teletext goes dark, a victim of the DTV transition

Despite the many advantages of digital broadcast television, the transition is separating Europeans from a reliable source of information known as teletext. Citizens of London are the latest to experience the loss, as analog signals in the region were switched off just yesterday. Ceefax, a service of the BBC, has provided millions of Britons with news, sports, weather, television listings, subtitles and games for the past 38 years, and is now accessible only in Kent, Sussex, north-east England and Northern Ireland. Soon, it may cease to exist altogether.

Seen as a precursor to the internet, teletext is a free service that's heavily rooted in analog PAL signals, where small packets of data are sent in the vertical blanking interval, which is otherwise unnoticed by viewers. Because the information is broadcast, users were never subject to network congestion, and only needed to wait a brief moment for their desired page to be transmitted -- more advanced televisions even cached this information locally. As part of the airwaves, the service is naturally free, and in that sense, it lacks a suitable replacement. As with all progress, however, there are casualties, and teletext was an unfortunate bystander. Those who cherished the service can take a moment to relive the memories in the links below.

Livestream Broadcaster hands-on

Image

According to CEO Max Haot the logical next step for Livestream -- now well established as a reliable service for bringing live video feeds to the internet -- is just to get more people distributing live video by any means necessary. To that end, the company is jumping into the hardware business with this palm-sized Livestream Broadcaster unit that just went up for preorders a few days ago. With a subsidized price of $495, it connects to video cameras directly over HDMI then reencodes and uploads the video on the fly to the company's servers (unlimited streaming costs $45 per month, each encoder comes with three months free) via Ethernet, WiFi or a 3G / 4G USB dongle. Even on the wireless-internet challenged LVCC floor it was sending several streams and enabling user control via buttons on the unit itself, or remotely from a PC or iPhone / iPad. These boxes are still on target to ship at the end of May and and showed off everything those without the backing of a tech / media conglomerate (cough), like small businesses or independent bloggers, would need to make their productions available for viewing as they happen.
