In the fashion industry, a smart designer knows that not everything goes well together. It can take some trial and error, years of hard work and knowing when to start fresh to figure out what looks best. The same may be true for married couples who are considering a divorce. While difficult, a divorce doesn't have to get ugly.
Vera Wang, who is internationally known for her wedding gown designs and accessible couture, is reportedly separating from her husband after 20 years of marriage. Wang's husband has played an active role in the designer's company and has been very involved in coordinating the day-to-day operations. Reports suggest the two will continue working together after the split.
Working together after a divorce may be very difficult for many couples. However, in many households across Texas, married couples have started up a business together and have both invested heavily in the company. After years of hard work, it can be difficult or impossible to give that all up. Instead, many couples want to develop arrangements that keep their professional interests in the business protected while they go their separate ways in their personal lives.
Wang and her estranged husband have worked for years to turn her designs into a multi-million dollar enterprise. Her detailed and feminine designs are found across the world. Just because her marriage may not work out doesn't mean that the pair works poorly together, which can be seen in the professional success they have found together. Because of this, they may certainly benefit from continuing to work together.
Couples who intend to maintain interest and interactions in a shared business will likely want to meet with an attorney who can address issues that may crop up in these types of relationships.
